The present work is one of Rusiñol’s last jewels and much of its value lies in being an unfinished painting. The artist did not finish it before his death. If we look closely at the colours of the work, we notice that they are only the pigments that would form the base of the composition, and on which Rusiñol would then have applied concluding nuances and brushstrokes. Hedges are only sketched with an almost uniform monochrome green precisely for that reason. The red and white of the flowering shrubs are simply a basis on which Rusiñol would have worked to create a more realistic and careful result.
